itBit has received reports from users stating that they have been prompted to provide their itBit credentials, banking credentials and other identifying information for the purpose of technical assistance or the promise of refunds. Never share your credentials with anyone, and contact us immediately if you suspect fraud. This information can then be used to open an itBit account in your name or access your existing account. Once bitcoin is withdrawn, it cannot be recalled. You are responsible for the use of your credentials. You are responsible for the use of your credentials.


Recommended Security Practices

You should be vigilant about the security of your itBit account.  There are numerous ways in which fraudulent perpetrators may attempt to gain control of your account or open an account in your name.  Here are some steps you should take to protect yourself:

  • Do not share credentials to your online bank account, itBit account, or email account
  • Do not provide bank account or credit card information to any unknown party
  • Do not provide personal information to unknown parties
  • Do not allow anyone to establish a Bitcoin trading account in your name for the purposes of facilitating a refund or any other financial transactions that may appear to be unusual
  • Be aware of service providers requesting remote access to your personal computer
  • Never install software unless you know the source
  • Do not open emails, launch links, or open attachments from unknown sources
  • If you notice unusual activity within your email account, bank account, itBit account or on your personal devices, contact your relevant service provider immediately
  • If you have been the victim of any fraudulent activity, contact your local law enforcement
